I've received 251 completed online committee volunteer forms! Thank you! There's still room for consideration for a number of excellent committee appointments.
I am especially interested in hearing from those interested in appointments to:

Recent activities

This week I attended a reception at the Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection of the University of Texas Libraries that commemorated the Gloria Anzaldua Papers.
October was filled with attendance at a number of new and annually scheduled events, including:
Media Training at ALA, Chicago
The Joint Conference of Librarians of Color, 10-15 October, Dallas
The Sequoyah Research Center Symposium, 19-22 October, Little Rock
Orientation and the Fall ALA Executive Board meeting, 23- 29 October, Chicago
National Literacy Summit.2, 30 October, Washington, DC

We also spent several weeks hosting guests, including Dr. Tangi Steen from the U of South Australia.

Meanwhile, the UT-Austin women's basketball season opener was an exhibition game against the Houston Jaguars. The Longhorns are on their way to a winning season.
