Read Across America: at Metz Elementary School, a bilingual public school!

Today I was fortunate to participate in Metz Elementary's annual Read Across American events. I read several of my favorite books to classes of second and fourth grade classes. My choice for second grade was "My Big Dog" (Susan Stevens Crummel and Janet Stevens). I read two Dav Pilkey books to the fourth graders: "The Silly Gooses" and "The Dumb Bunnies Go to the Zoo," perennial favorites!

A number of wonderful community volunteers were participating this year--media people from Univision, police officers. I met a star from one of my favorite television shows: Taylor Kitsch ("Friday Night Lights") was at the school for over two hours, reading with children.

Find out more about Metz (and FNL!).
